Mentoring and Education Services

The InspirEd initiative works with a range of young people in need, for example from SEN schools, the Youth Offending service and PRUs. The service prides itself upon working passionately, professionally and effectively with the most hard to reach young people across a wide spectrum and aims to fill the gaps left within the education system for many NEET, needy and isolated young people.

The Service offers in-depth mentoring, Literacy and Numeracy support and access to sports and recreation activities for young people.

InspirEd will take on referrals on a short, or long-term basis and will work flexibly and co-operatively with referring agencies and their partners in a joined-up, friendly and professional manner.

Foundations of the Service

InspirEd was founded by Martin Mackenzie, a trained lecturer, tutor and sports instructor.

Martin has worked with young people in need for twenty five years, within the Youth Offending, Substance Misuse and homelessness fields. Having had a fractured youth within foster care and later adoption, Martin himself came before the Youth Justice System over thirty years ago and has literally seen the system from the inside out. His passion has been to reach and inspire the hardest to reach young people and to mentor them towards achievement and personal pride in life. From troubled beginnings, Martin has himself achieved within education, professionalism and sport. He believes therefore, that ALL young people are capable of achievement and has high regard and expectations for them, inspiring them towards their goals.
